Government on Thursday ordered a citizen’s arrest against Rochas Okorocha over alleged assault on a government official, Mr Jasper Ndubuaku.
Order was given by the Secretary to State Government (SSG), Mr Uche Onyeaguocha.
Chairman of the Recovery of Government Properties, Mr Jasper Ndubuaku, was allegedly assaulted at Okorocha’s residence and this resulted to the citizens arrest issued against Rochas Okorocha.
Onyeaguocha said that the state had also placed Okorocha on security watch and is to arrested on site
He urged Imo citizens to arrest him and alert the government whenever they found him in the state.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports a video, trending online on Thursday which captured some thugs beating Ndubuaku at Okorocha’s residence on Spibatt Avenue, Owerri and that the citizen arrest is as a result of this event
Commissioner of Police in the state, Rabiu Ladodo, and SSG confirmed the incident to newsmen at a joint news briefing in Owerri.
They announced that a citizen’s arrest had been declared on Okorocha over the incident.
It was said that Okorocha hired thugs to attack Ndubuaku at his residence and that Rochas Okorocha would be arrested and prosecuted anytime he entered the state.
NAN reports that the incident was happening barely 24 hours after traditional rulers in the state issued a stern warning to Okorocha against disrupting the activities of the recovery team.
The commissioner of police said that police would investigate the senator’s involvement in the matter.
Mr Ndubuaku’ Experience
Narrating his ordeal to NAN, Ndubuaku alleged that he was beaten at Okorocha’s residence and thrown into a gutter by some thugs.
He further alleged that he was first held hostage for some hours by the thugs in the presence of security men attached to Okorocha’s residence.
He said that the recovery team obtained a court order to search Okorocha’s house.
Why Government official Mr Ndubuaku was at Okorocha’s residence
“We got a court order to recover stolen properties kept in Okorocha’s house and when we got to his house on Thursday, armed thugs attacked us.
“There are twenty government vehicles in his house, four Speed Boats, one movable Crain and generator sets, which we went to recover before the incident.
“We will not give up the battle, we will go back to his house because the property belongs to Imo government,” Ndubuaku said”

24-year-old Ghanaian chef Sika Mortoo beat her Nigerian counterpart to emerge winner of a jollof cooking competition.
The Onga Jollof Battle happened last weekend in Accra as two chefs from Ghana and Nigeria entered a battle to find out which country prepared the best jollof.
Jollof is a popular West African meal which is prepared with rice, tomato sauce and other spicy ingredients.
The meal is popular among countries like Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Cameroon.
But for years now, Ghana and Nigeria have been fighting over who makes the best jollof.
After the judges tasted both plates of jollof, all three judges voted in favour of Ghana jollof.
The final results showed Ghana jollof scored 95% and Nigeria jollof which chef Turay prepared, scored 75%.
The three judges from Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa all voted in favour of Ghana jollof.
Winner of the jollof competition, Sika Mortoo, walked away with a cash prize of $2000 home. Her Nigeria counterpart, Chef Turay, took home $1000.

Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has identified poverty and unemployment as major causes of Boko Haram insurgency in the state.
Zulum stated this during the inauguration of a micro credit facility and cash disbursement to petty traders, perishable sellers and retailers at Custom Market, Maiduguri, on Saturday.
He said that poverty and unemployment were the main causes of the insurgency and security challenges facing the state.
“There is nexus between security and economy; you could not have security without economic improvement.
“I promised to address the nagging problem of unemployment among youths and women; I will also work for the improvement of social and economic condition of the people to achieve security, peace and stability in the state,” he said.
The governor said that his administration had initiated viable programmes to provide job opportunities, reduce poverty and enhance wealth creation in the society.
He also said that the State Government had targeted over 10, 000 traders to participate in the micro credit loan scheme before the end of the year.
He said that some 1, 307 traders and retailers were selected to participate under the first phase of the programme in the Custom market.
Zulum said each of the beneficiaries would receive N30, 000 loan under the programme to enable him or her to finance their businesses, adding that government had adopted proactive measures to ensure continuity and sustainability of the programme.
He said that the state government had also provided a 50 per cent waver on the facility to enable the beneficiaries to repay the loan.
He urged the beneficiaries to ensure effective utilisation of the money and engage in productive activities.
Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Lami Mohammed and Ali Yanage, lauded the gesture, saying that it would go a long way in boosting their socio-economic well being.
