Production of Eva water suspended by ( NAFDAC) National Agency for food and drug administration and control.

The National Agency for food and  Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC) has directed the Nigerian Bottling Company limited to recall Eva premium table water 75cl over suspected contamination.

The agency disclosed this in a twitter post on Friday.

The Nigerian bottling company said that it has withdrawn two batches of 75cl Eva water produced from may 22 to 24, at its Asejire plant which did not meet the bottler’s  quality  standards.

The withdrawal was after NAFDAC issued a recall alert for the product on Friday.

NAFDAC has also revealed it would investigate the affected beverage and that the production of Eva water has been suspended pending outcome of investigation.

The regulatory agency said on June 20, the company voluntarily informed it of a change in colour of the product from colourless to light green and presence of particles in two lots.

The affected Eva water 75cl was produced at the NBC  Asejire, Ibadan, Oyo state between 22 and 23rd may

This Eva water was said to have been inspected by NAFDAC and registered with the registration Number 01 -0492

The statement signed by the NBC Director, Public Affairs and Communications, Ekuma Eze, read in part, “The Nigerian Bottling Company is aware of the Public Alert No. 0011/2019 issued by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

“As noted in the alert, on 20th of June 2019, NBC voluntarily notified NAFDAC of two batches of Eva Water (75cl) produced from May 22-23, 2019 in our Asejire Plant, which did not meet our quality standards.

“We had commenced the withdrawal of the affected batches which are 220519.14.27 AC4 and 230519.15.15 AC4, prior to the NAFDAC announcement and are cooperating with the agency in their investigation.

NAFDAC implores distributors, wholesalers and retailers to immediately stop the distribution and sale of the affected Eva water Premium table water.

The distributors are instructed to return stock of the affected product in their possession to (NBC ) Nigerian bottling company limited Asejire, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Agency urged consumers to report adverse events related to the product to its nearest offices across the country.
