After yesterday’s game today started with England and Sweden. This is how the game went; Sweden took on England in the third quarter final match as they both hoped to pick the solitary semi final ticket.
The game promised to be a cagey affair with both teams expected to be tight at the back. England were much brighter and were in control of play, the control soon paid off when Maguire headed in Young’s corner to put England in front. Sterling missed a vital chance just before the break to increase England’s lead as they took the solitary one goal lead into half time.
Sweden came out determined in the second half as tgey searched for the equalizer. Berg’s header was smartly saved by Pickford before the latter denied Claesson again from a low drive after good build up by the Swedish. Dele headed past Olsen to put England two up and in pole position to reach the semi finals. Pickford was on hand again to deny Berg one more time as England were content with defending to see out the game and book a semi final spot for the first time since 1990.
