“As a board, you can lias with other institution to grant you access into their facilities during your screening exercise. If need be, engage them for their support. Don’t think or feel you can do it alone. You should also note that this scholarship scheme is limited to only children of the military, Men and women who served in the military and by extension, widows of our veterans who want to further their education and even legionnaires who want to improve on their educational status.
There is an existing website for your activities and also make sure you carry out effective publicity both in the print and other medium of communication” he stressed.
In his remark, the Chairman of the Scholarship Board Sir Firima Harvest thanked the state Chairman of the legion for finding him worthy to serve and assured the legion of his commitment for the two year period.
It could be recalled that the first phase of the scholarship scheme was floated in 2018 after the executive Governor of Rivers State Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike donated the sum of One Hundred Million Naira (#100,000,000.00) to support the welfare scheme and education of children of veterans.
This second phase will consolidate on the already exiting scheme and also the inclusion of widows and veterans who intend further their education. This was made possible following recent donation by the Rivers State Governor at the just concluded Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration 2020 where he donated the sum of One Hundred Million Naira (#100,000,000.00).
