England vs Colombia was the last match up in the round of 16 at the ongoing Fifa world cup 2018. England
started more brightly as Kane headed over from a Trppier cross as the teams sought to lay a hold on proceedings. Colombia without Rodriguez were limited in their attack as England were on duty to nullify any build up by the Colombians.
The game went into the break on a stalemate as the teams were cautious all through. England started the second half brightly and were awarded a penalty after Carlos Sanchez had brought Harry Kane in the box.
The latter converted the resulting penalty to take to 6 goals in the competition. Colombia sprang to life in the closing stages of normal time as Muriel saw a dipping shot tipped over by Pickford. Mina headed in from a Cuadrado’s cross from the resulting corner to force extra time.
Extra time saw both teams trying to be conservative as England allowed Colombia play in the first period while the roles were switched in the second. With no goals during extra time, it was down to penalties.
Ospina saved from Henderson to give Colombia the edge after 3 each but Uribe’s effort deflected of the under of the post to bring England into it. Pickford saved from Bacca before Dier calmly scored to send England to the quarters where they’ll face Sweden.
