How did the holiday just come to an end though? i know some of us would have wanted it much longer because of steady light…..

Now lets gist; Everyone in Nigeria keeps complaining, no light and that we want light but we should ask our self this question, are we prepared for constant light in Nigeria. When power becomes constant in Nigeria, it will be a start of a new era and no one will need to tell us that there is constant light in the country because we will see it literally, but are we all going to like what we see.
Now imagine this scenario, light becomes constant across all states in Nigeria, starting from tomorrow what will happen ? Firstly everybody will jump up and celebrate, and after that what happens next well let us just say “after the reggae play the blues” starting from tomorrow anyone who has generator mecahanic workshop it is over for them, no one would bring gen for servicing or repairing, it is the end, no costumers, no business and traders in the business of selling generators and their parts and who would they sell to, when the light becomes constant, well no one.

So those of you in the business of generators are you prepared for coming of the light. Those of you, that are not in the business are probably saying who cares “there is light” but it will affect us all, because unemployment will
increase drastically and i don’t need to tell you what happens when there is unemployment, crime will increase, kidnapping and the rest of them, so now how prepared are you.

The petroleum sector itself will suffer a massive blow, because they will lose half of their costumers and we know one of Nigeria’s main income is petrol.

The bottom line is this, there is one thing to say we want constant light by 2020 or 2030 but are we prepared
for it, it is just like saying you want Christ to come but are you prepared for him. If they are really serious about giving us constant light they should enlighten the public about this massive shift and tell them to prepare because our entire system in Nigeria is based on no light.
Those of you in the business of generators are you preparing for this, please leave a comment.

With the way social media is expanding it is important for you to know the needful on social media like Branding and Influencing.

Below is the summary of the actionable insights by Digital Marketing expert Henshaw;

To build a strong brand and influence with lots of following on social media you don’t only need to have your brand registered on all the social media platforms that your audiences are active on, you have to:

1-    Set up and optimize your social media pages properly

I have reviewed over 30 Instagram pages and more than 40 Facebook pages and I can tell you that 8 out of 10 social media pages are not properly optimized.

If you are like me, chances are you have tried connecting with somebody on social media just search for his account forever.

When your page is not properly optimized, you make it hard for search engine to collect your data, people struggle to find you, you suffer the most from algorithm changes and platforms like Instagram and Twitter might ignore you when suggesting accounts to your potential followers, and even when they do, they will likely suggest your account to people who may not be interesting in your brand.

But when hen you optimize your pages, you:

  • Strengthen your brand
  • Generate leads
  • Get more visibility online
  • Connect with your audience

2-    Define your brand

Defining your brand and staying true to it helps you stand out from the social media noise.

You cannot market well without paying premium attention to branding.

I cannot count how many times I have struggled to remember a friend’s Instagram and Twitter handle. Now what if I wanted to give that friend a business? Well, I wee not go and kii myself, I will go to the nearest option.

Your brand identity is very important. My username is “Henshawjacobson” everywhere.

If you are a girl and your username is something like, “mhizsexyjane”, I wouldn’t wait for the angel to come and tell me that you are a wannabe slay mama.

So your name is Jane, your business name is Janny’s Cakes, meanwhile your social media username and activities depict a science student on a codien diet yet you are blaming the devil and Buhari’s government for not making sales. I pray sense fall on you today.

3-    Know your target audience

Not knowing your target audience and not focusing all your social media marketing efforts on your target market is the easiest way to waste your time and marketing budget online. You only market when you are targeting.

4-    Have a message, tell a story.

Here I’m talking about contents, I’m talking about storytelling. Your message is your story, your story is what is unique to your brand. Your competitors can copy your style but nobody can copy your story.

People will follow you because of your valuable contents, they will support you because of your story.

5-    Make sure your target audience see your message

It’s not enough to create contents, you need a community to share your contents with.

You have to constantly grow your following and take advantage of Facebook and Instagram ad to amplify your voice so more people can hear your story. If you produce more of visual contents, you should treat Youtube advert like fuel in Nigeria during Christmas.

6-    Motivate your target audience to take actions

Everybody on social media needs to be motivated in one way or the other to take actions. Give people more reasons to follow you, support you and buy from you.

Use  freebies, lead magnets, anything that will encourage them to take actions that add value to your brand. Think like a typical Nigerian pastor when it’s offering time.

7-    Measure your efforts and review your strategy

I know some expert will tell you to be consistent. I tell you to be consistent with your brand, be consistent with what is giving you results.

Take time to analyze your effort and treat any strategies and tactics that’s not helping you to reach your goal like EBOLA.

8-    Follow the first social media marketing consultant

you should have reached out to before taking your business online @Henshawjacobson. And make sure you keep your eyes on my pages for social media marketing TIPS, free TRAINING and hard to find marketing strategies.

9-    Don’t try to do it all yourself, involve an expert.

  • Needless to remind you that Buhari has 156kfollowers on IG but he does not know his account password. He would probably spell Facebook as FIRST BOOK.
  • What am I saying? You don’t need to be a social media pro to build a strong brand on social media, just have a budget and hire an expert to work with you.

The question is; Is Poverty a sin?  Well I don’t think it is because everybody is not meant to be rich.

This saying is leading people to get into quick rich syndrome , corruption, prostitution, drug abuse, cultism, cyber crime, arm robbery etc. all in the name of poverty is a sin.

If you look at the bible our Lord Jesus never said that Poverty is a sin…..

Happy Sunday.

Ok we are team Eagles but everyone broke down when they lost to Croatia 2-0 😢 it was painful but we know the next game would be much better, so let’s continue supporting them. Below is what the guys think about yesterday’s match;

France vs Australia
France had the best individual players in terms of the world cup. They dominated possession pogba and kante in that middle of the pack is really good. They had good chances an early one for that matter which came from kylian mbappe that could have handed them the lead Antoine Griezmann scored the first penalty given by VAR in World Cup history as France edged past Australia 2-1 in their Group C opener.

France were a long way from their best at the Kazan Arena, with their heralded attacking trio of Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele failing to ignite against a dogged Australian outfit.

After a disjointed first half, the game sparked into life shortly after the interval as referee Andres Cunha awarded a penalty to France after consulting VAR and deciding that Josh Risdon had clipped Griezmann just inside the area. The Atletico Madrid striker’s fierce spot-kick was cancelled out just four minutes later by another penalty, Aston Villa midfielder Mile Jedinak slotting home after Samuel Umtiti handled in the area.

Didier Deschamps’ side looked to be heading for a disappointing start to their campaign, but Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba saw his deflected effort bounce off the crossbar and narrowly over the line 10 minutes from time to secure all three points.

France will hope for a more fluid performance against Peru on Thursday, while Australia will look to get their campaign back on track when they face Denmark.
Pogba had other ideas, though, sending a stabbed effort towards goal from the edge of the area which was cruelly diverted past Ryan by Aziz Behich to get the French off to a winning start.

Argentina vs iceland
Argentina went into the world cup game losing Manuel lanzini just before the world cup and having issues with their federation
They started the game well kept possession while the iceland team defended and waited for the counter and it payed off after Argentina had gone one nil up. The goal from aguero was beautiful he was set up well to put them ahead Lionel Messi on the other had was kept quite the whole fourty five minutes.
Hannes Thor Halldorsson was the hero for Iceland as the goalkeeper’s penalty save from Lionel Messi secured his side a sensational 1-1 draw against Argentina.

With Diego Maradona watching on from the stands, Messi failed to convert from the spot in the second half of an eventful Group D opener at the Otkrytie Arena in Moscow.

Sergio Aguero had fired the beaten finalists from four years ago ahead in the 19th minute, finally breaking his World Cup duck at the ninth attempt with a rising left-footed drive.

Argentina’s opener arrived after a glaring miss at the other end, the late-arriving Birkir Bjarnason carelessly pushing a side-footed effort wide of the target when the ball had broken kindly into his path.

However, undeterred by the setback of conceding first,Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side hit back. Finnbogason was on hand to score his country’s maiden World Cup, knocking home a rebound after Caballero had parried a low cross straight to the Augsburg forward.

With their lead disappearing in a hurry, Argentina set about trying to find a second goal against determined opponents happy to sit back and defend.

They were gifted the chance to go ahead again when Hordur Magnusson’s clumsy push on Maximiliano Meza was spotted by referee Szymon Marciniak without the aid of technology.

Yet Halldorsson guessed correctly, diving to his right to frustrate Messi, meaning the Barcelona star has now missed four of his last seven attempts from the spot for club and country.

The keeper also produced a late save to keep out an attempt from substitute Cristian Pavon as Iceland – who also drew 1-1 with eventual winners Portugal in their Euro 2016 opener – held on to clinch another famous result in their footballing history.

Peru vs Denmark
Peru were brilliant and played beautifully well passed the ball with confidence and caused problems for the Denmark team had great opportunities to punish them.

Yussuf Poulsen bounced back from conceding a first-half penalty to score the decisive goal in Demark’s 1-0 victory over Peru in their World Cup Group C opener.

The RB Leipzig forward was deemed to have tripped Christian Cueva in the box when referee Bakary Gassama consulted VAR, but the Peru midfielder skied his spot-kick and left the field in tears at the end of a tense opening period.

Denmark settled into the game after the interval and the talismanic Christian Eriksen provided Poulsen with a chance to turn his evening around in the 59th minute, and the 24-year-old made no mistake.

Paolo Guerrero came on from the bench following a successful appeal to suspend his 14-month drug ban cleared him to feature, but he could not turn the game in Peru’s favour.

Kasper Schmeichel denied Jefferson Farfan brilliantly with six minutes to go as Ricardo Gareca’s men gave a good account of themselves in their first World Cup match for 36 years, entertaining the hordes of South American fans who packed the Mordovia Arena.

France await Peru next, while Denmark will go into their game against Australia in confident mood after collecting three points.

Orlando City’s Yoshimar Yotun lashed the ball into Schmeichel’s midriff from 25 yards as Peru made a positive, energetic start to the game and Edison Flores lifted a powerful shot over the crossbar from just outside the box.

Andre Carrillo surged towards the Denmark box in the 13th minute and cut inside to curl a low drive towards the bottom-left corner, only for Schmeichel to pull off a diving save.

Denmark began to dominate possession but it was not until the 27th minute that they attempted a shot on goal, Thomas Delaney launching the ball over.

Peru promptly countered when Carrillo’s weighted pass put Farfan through on goal and Simon Kjaer had to rush across to dispossess the striker.

Denmark midfielder William Kvist was taken off on a stretcher after a sustaining a blow to the ribs in a challenge with Farfan, and disaster almost struck for Age Hareide’s men when Cueva was brought down in the penalty area by Poulsen.

The referee pointed to the spot upon reviewing video footage and Cueva blazed over, much to the dismay of Peru’s sizable travelling support.

Denmark looked more assured after the restart and pushed forward in search of a breakthrough. It arrived just before the hour mark when Eriksen ran through the middle and fed Poulsen, who slotted the ball low to the left of Peru goalkeeper Pedro Gallese.

Peru piled forward and Flores drew a fine, one-handed save from Schmeichel, before the winger was replaced by Peru’s all-time leading goal-scorer Guerrero in the 62nd minute.

The veteran forward quickly tested Schmeichel, heading directly at the keeper from close range before trying an audacious backheel from the edge of the six-yard box that trickled past the post.

Schmeichel then made a brilliant stop with his feet from a late Farfan thunderbolt as Denmark clung on for a hard-fought victory.

Nigeria vs Croatia by Eddy and Deymo

Eddy; The game started in high spirit with a very tantalizing line-up from both teams. First half was balanced and decent but an own goal at the 32nd mins occurred by Etebo through a set piece.

The first half Nigeria was the better team but to be fair it’s disappointing to have conceived an own goal through the header from Kramaric who wasn’t even properly kept off the eighteen yard box.

From the Nigeria part, 3-5-2 is an ideal formation they need to allow Odion Ighalo get good passes and for the Croatia team, keeping pressure on the defence will spring up another goal with modric and Rakitic controlling the midfield with fluidity.

Deymo; After the draw earlier both teams came into the match to win, nigeria started well looking promising from the wings and I think Moses was their best player through out the first half but the own goal from etebo made the nigeria national team a little shaky and Croatia. I thought in the second half nigeria should have brought in kelechi ihenacho ighalo didn’t look good in front Croatia on the other hand didn’t play as I expected with the quality they have in the middle of the pack and in front but the big man in front speaking of Mario mandsukic gave them a relief by winning a penalty for the Croatians.

Croatia claimed pole position in Group D with a hard-fought 2-0 win against Nigeria thanks to an own goal from Oghenekaro Etebo and a Luka Modric penalty.

Midfielder Etebo, who joined Stoke City for €7.2million on Monday, turned a Modric corner into his own net after Ivan Perisic and Mario Mandzukic both flicked the delivery on.

And when William Troost-Ekong needlessly dragged Mandzukic down in the box, captain Modric coolly converted the 71st-minute penalty to give Croatia a winning start on their fifth appearance at the finals.

Croatia had the better of a close contest light on chances in Kaliningrad, with Mandzukic’s aerial power causing plenty of problems for Nigeria, who have the youngest squad at the World Cup.

Gernot Rohr’s men were unable to create a clear opportunity of their own and sit bottom of Group D following the first round of fixtures, Argentina and Iceland having drawn in Moscow earlier on Friday after Lionel Messi missed a penalty.

After a cagey opening, Perisic fired Croatia’s first shot in the 13th minute, narrowly clearing the crossbar after Mandzukic’s strength created the opportunity to shoot.

More solid hold-up play from Mandzukic fed Ante Rebic, whose effort deflected wide, with Croatia scoring the opening goal from the resulting set-piece in the 32nd minute.

Perisic and Mandzukic both got a touch on a right-wing Modric corner but the crucial contact came at the back post from Etebo, who could only divert the ball past teenage goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.

Alex Iwobi was proving a lively presence in attack for Nigeria but after wriggling into space on the left side of the box, he hit a shot directly into a Croatia defender.

Rebic should have doubled Croatia’s lead, firing over from Perisic’s perfect left-wing centre, with Odion Ighalo’s tame header recording the match’s first shot on target in the 59th minute.

Nigeria’s lack of quality in the final third was evident and after Troost-Ekong was penalised for holding Mandzukic in the penalty area, Modric sent Uzoho the wrong way from 12 yards for his first World Cup goal.

A fightback from the Super Eagles never looked likely, Danijel Subasic given a comfortable outing in the Croatia goal with Kelechi Iheanacho and Etebo missing chances to register.

Croatia next face Messi’s men on Thursday, while Nigeria are in action the following day against World Cup debutants Iceland.

The question is, Should a master of ceremonies take up all available jobs? Or should he be quick to identify the right type of event to handle, at the initial stage of growth?

“Hustle is hustle, as long as it puts some change in the pocket”, said a young and excited observer who said he would love to host all types of events.

Petrifying as it may sound, you need to observe and keep to the commandment to just stay in your lane! Many drivers comb the streets/roads on a daily basis; failure to stick to a lane can lead to a disaster or regret.

Lets use  the driver/car illustration to make this point stand out.

What is your lane?
When you set out to become an MC, try your best to identify what type of MC you want to become and later change into. You can do this by looking at the long-term benefits [not the sudden gratification it brings], your strength and weakness, your interests…then you can evolve around it. Your lane can fit into either of the following categories:

A.     A formal MC without being witty or funny, or;

B.     A formal MC mixed/blended with humor, or;

C.     A very funny [informal] MC without a tendency of being formal.

This will ultimately identify the lane you belong to, as you begin to build your career. Often times many people think that they fall into category C, especially with the rise and successes of comedians in modern times. If you seem a bit confused as to where you belong, bear in mind that this will affect your delivery, in any event, you choose to host in the future.

Here are two ways to identify your lane.

Talk to people around you
Have you tried talking to people around you asking for their sincerity towards your goal of becoming an MC? If not, then you should. Some people think that they are actually funny, but unbeknownst to them, they actually strike the most boring conversations let alone crack a hilarious joke.

Avoid people who are only there to stroke your ego by telling you, “you are damn funny and good”, while in truth, err… you could do much better as a formal MC.

This doesn’t mean that you cannot cut across from being A to B or C above. It will only take time, effort and practice. But, it will be nice to identify your lane earlier.

Identifying your lane through others
Before you pick up the microphone on your next job as a master of ceremonies, try to identify your lane through others. Let’s do this little exercise to help you understand how.

There are respected and talented Master of Ceremonies in Nigeria and abroad that we can connect with. These ones clearly identify if not 100% but at least 40% of what we are or who we are. Sadly, I have had trouble identifying mine in the past. People have mentioned who I kind of mirror on the job. So, I like to see myself as–A & B.

Below are examples of a few names that may identify slightly if not wholly, your lane:

A. Gbenga Adeyinka – Energetic, Very funny and can be very formal too- A, B & C

B.  Trevor Noah – Energetic, Witty, Funny, although I do not see him hosting a formal event such as a national inauguration with a brief that reads – “NO JOKES PLEASE”. Dude is so funny, he will crack up! So, I will place him in category B & C

C. Steve Harvey – Soft but very funny yet can be serious too! A, B & C

D.  Queen Latifa – Not so funny but lively and can be very official. A

E. Joseph Benjamin – Smart, confident, articulate and a go-to corporate MC –  A

If you couldn’t fit into any of the categories above, then I am sure you have the name of a host who best describes you. Please, bear in mind that being a master of ceremonies is not the same as being an actor, comedian or an Instagram skit star. The characters mentioned above are used to only depict what type of LANE you should be driving on.

Why you need to identify your lane
Imagine putting your favorite MC who is totally hilarious, exciting and really funny to anchor a burial arrangement? Oh, okay wait, imagine having your formal, uptight corporate MC host a wedding with the brief – “please be exciting, engaging, funny and dance if you can”.

Now you get the picture, don’t you? It is true that some have a better delivery and zest when it’s an event that fits their portfolio, nevertheless, you too can learn to build that portfolio to house A, B, and C.

Do remember though that you can start from one or two categories before delving into the other. A driver shouldn’t just switch lanes because he can drive, rather you might want to use the mirror, indicate and make a switch faultlessly.

This article best works for event planner’s asides yourself, as they will avoid employing a wrong service for an event and also you will avoid accepting a job you aren’t fully fit to handle.

So, can you identify your lane now?

Day 2 games are over and it was fantastic especially the last game by Portugal and Spain  which ended with a 3-3 draw. The guys came through today with all the reviews, see below;

Egypt vs Uruguay
The first half was good Uruguay had the better chance the one from Luis Suarez and I think the Egyptians played beautifully, defended well and played on the counter. I think if they had brought in mo. Salah in the second half they would have had a better chance of scoring. But in all round it’s was a decent and entertaining game.

The second half was totally one sided and Egypt could have done better but the Uruguay were simply superb and had a good chance, the game could have actually been more but the Egyptian keeper was outstanding the save that kept out Edison cavani was great goal keeping. They tried to keep the Uruguay’s from scoring but Jimenez header foul kick made all the difference. Great game to watch. And I think Egypt can still qualify they need to work on their finishing.

Chances and goal
Luis Suarez missed two golden chances as goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy excelled, before Cavani struck the post with a late free-kick, seemingly sealing a point for Egypt on their return to the finals.

But Gimenez rose highest to meet a set-piece and bury a header past El-Shenawy In the 90 minute to put them ahead , celebrating a fine end to a week in which he signed a new contract at Atletico Madrid.

Egypt offered little in Salah’s absence and are now under pressure heading into a clash with Russia, while Uruguay – and particularly Suarez – can breathe a sigh of relief.

With Salah – who has been battling a shoulder injury – watching on from the sidelines, Egypt’s approach was largely compact and somewhat rugged and the first chance came as Cavani worked El-Shenawy from 20 yards.

Suarez should have fired Uruguay in front at the midway point of the first half, but, when the ball dropped his way from a corner, he screwed a close-range effort into the side-netting.

Uruguay continued to labour in the attacking third before the break, while a healthy Egyptian contingent had only Salah’s appearance on the stadium’s big screen to cheer.

Suarez and his team-mates were quickly back on the front foot following the restart, though, and Cavani fed his strike partner for a low drive that El-Shenawy blocked bravely.

The Barcelona forward squandered another opportunity late on, forcing his way through the Egypt backline but failing in his attempt to round the goalkeeper.

And El-Shenawy again looked to have preserved a point with a sublime save from Cavani’s thunderous volley, before the Uruguay attacker curled a free-kick against the post.

But Gimenez came to the rescue as he planted a header into the bottom-right corner, earning a hard-fought victory.

Iran vs Morocco
It wasn’t the score every one had in mind, In the first 15 to 20 minutes the Moroccans looked promising but later on drifted, the both sides never really got a shot on target apart from the effort from benatia which the goal keeper saved in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half I was hoping on a brighter game from both sides and they both stepped up and, for the second time today at Russia 2018, a late goal at the death has won it. Iran win 1-0 against Morocco in Group B with only 32 percent possession as substitute Aziz Bouhaddouz puts Ehsan Haji Safi’s last-gasp free-kick into his own net in the dying seconds. Carlos Queiroz’s side get their first World Cup win in 20 years; Herve Renard’s men see their 18-match unbeaten streak come to an end in heartbreaking circumstances. Full-time in Saint Petersburg, it finishes Morocco 0-1 Iran. Great game of football.

Portugal vs Spain

Portugal took on Spain in a Russia 2018 group B encounter.
Portugal led by talisman Cristiano Ronaldo who was up against club allies and foes led by Sergio Ramos in Fernando Hierro’s first game since the sacking of Julen Lopetegui few days before the World Cup.
Portugal had no intent of showing timidity as they took the lead through Ronaldo’s 4th minute penalty after the Forward was brought down by Nacho. Spain dominated proceedings in the first half and were rewarded with an equaliser by Diego Costa in the 24th minute. Spain were fluid in possession as Portugal sat back until just before the break when an unusual deGea error from a Ronaldo’s shot saw the ball whisk into the net.

Portugal went into the break with a 2-1 lead and came out for the second half with no intention of releasing thier grip but Spain had other ideas as a well worked free kick involving David Silva, Koke and Sergio Busquets saw Costa tap in for his second of the night and seven minutes later in the 58th minute a rasping drive from Nacho rewarded Spain with a deserved 2-3 lead as they continued to dictate possession. Ricardo Quaresma came on for Portugal in the 69th minute as they tried to make thier way back into the game and flashed a shot just over the bar. The way back was eventually found with few minutes to play as Ronaldo curled a freekick past the Wall and a helpless David deGea for his third and Portugal’s equaliser on the night. And soit ended
