Day 2 games are over and it was fantastic especially the last game by Portugal and Spain  which ended with a 3-3 draw. The guys came through today with all the reviews, see below;

Egypt vs Uruguay
The first half was good Uruguay had the better chance the one from Luis Suarez and I think the Egyptians played beautifully, defended well and played on the counter. I think if they had brought in mo. Salah in the second half they would have had a better chance of scoring. But in all round it’s was a decent and entertaining game.

The second half was totally one sided and Egypt could have done better but the Uruguay were simply superb and had a good chance, the game could have actually been more but the Egyptian keeper was outstanding the save that kept out Edison cavani was great goal keeping. They tried to keep the Uruguay’s from scoring but Jimenez header foul kick made all the difference. Great game to watch. And I think Egypt can still qualify they need to work on their finishing.

Chances and goal
Luis Suarez missed two golden chances as goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy excelled, before Cavani struck the post with a late free-kick, seemingly sealing a point for Egypt on their return to the finals.

But Gimenez rose highest to meet a set-piece and bury a header past El-Shenawy In the 90 minute to put them ahead , celebrating a fine end to a week in which he signed a new contract at Atletico Madrid.

Egypt offered little in Salah’s absence and are now under pressure heading into a clash with Russia, while Uruguay – and particularly Suarez – can breathe a sigh of relief.

With Salah – who has been battling a shoulder injury – watching on from the sidelines, Egypt’s approach was largely compact and somewhat rugged and the first chance came as Cavani worked El-Shenawy from 20 yards.

Suarez should have fired Uruguay in front at the midway point of the first half, but, when the ball dropped his way from a corner, he screwed a close-range effort into the side-netting.

Uruguay continued to labour in the attacking third before the break, while a healthy Egyptian contingent had only Salah’s appearance on the stadium’s big screen to cheer.

Suarez and his team-mates were quickly back on the front foot following the restart, though, and Cavani fed his strike partner for a low drive that El-Shenawy blocked bravely.

The Barcelona forward squandered another opportunity late on, forcing his way through the Egypt backline but failing in his attempt to round the goalkeeper.

And El-Shenawy again looked to have preserved a point with a sublime save from Cavani’s thunderous volley, before the Uruguay attacker curled a free-kick against the post.

But Gimenez came to the rescue as he planted a header into the bottom-right corner, earning a hard-fought victory.

Iran vs Morocco
It wasn’t the score every one had in mind, In the first 15 to 20 minutes the Moroccans looked promising but later on drifted, the both sides never really got a shot on target apart from the effort from benatia which the goal keeper saved in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half I was hoping on a brighter game from both sides and they both stepped up and, for the second time today at Russia 2018, a late goal at the death has won it. Iran win 1-0 against Morocco in Group B with only 32 percent possession as substitute Aziz Bouhaddouz puts Ehsan Haji Safi’s last-gasp free-kick into his own net in the dying seconds. Carlos Queiroz’s side get their first World Cup win in 20 years; Herve Renard’s men see their 18-match unbeaten streak come to an end in heartbreaking circumstances. Full-time in Saint Petersburg, it finishes Morocco 0-1 Iran. Great game of football.

Portugal vs Spain

Portugal took on Spain in a Russia 2018 group B encounter.
Portugal led by talisman Cristiano Ronaldo who was up against club allies and foes led by Sergio Ramos in Fernando Hierro’s first game since the sacking of Julen Lopetegui few days before the World Cup.
Portugal had no intent of showing timidity as they took the lead through Ronaldo’s 4th minute penalty after the Forward was brought down by Nacho. Spain dominated proceedings in the first half and were rewarded with an equaliser by Diego Costa in the 24th minute. Spain were fluid in possession as Portugal sat back until just before the break when an unusual deGea error from a Ronaldo’s shot saw the ball whisk into the net.

Portugal went into the break with a 2-1 lead and came out for the second half with no intention of releasing thier grip but Spain had other ideas as a well worked free kick involving David Silva, Koke and Sergio Busquets saw Costa tap in for his second of the night and seven minutes later in the 58th minute a rasping drive from Nacho rewarded Spain with a deserved 2-3 lead as they continued to dictate possession. Ricardo Quaresma came on for Portugal in the 69th minute as they tried to make thier way back into the game and flashed a shot just over the bar. The way back was eventually found with few minutes to play as Ronaldo curled a freekick past the Wall and a helpless David deGea for his third and Portugal’s equaliser on the night. And soit ended
Por🇵🇹3-3Esp 🇪🇸

SootThe City of Port Harcourt has been completely taken over by black soot, an airborne contaminant which is a result of crude oil exploitation. These range from massive oil spills to acid rains from gas flaring as well as the activities of security agencies who burn off illegally bunkered petroleum products.

For more than two years, both the federal and state governments have only resorted to window dressing to address the prevailing issue of the blanket of black soot that has covered Port Harcourt.

Residents insists that since the government cannot provide them with jobs, clean up the environment and save them from these health dangers while milking them of their oil, the only solution they have is to make money from it the way they can while making available the products to the people.

Security agencies continued to employ dastard and extremely reckless methods for the disposal and destruction of petroleum products seized from illegal oil bunkerers. Sometimes they recklessly burn off the products while at others times, they empty thousands of containers bearing oil products directly into the seas and Rivers.

For the next 35 days we would be giving you Match Review after every match from the World Cup Russia 2018. Please kindly note that the review are from our contibutors and you can also give a review too by sending to

Review of the opening game by host nation Russia and Saudi Arabia from Eddy Owhor

About the game

For me the game was one sided the Saudians played the possession game but the Russians had better individual performances and decent chances, i think in the first 15-20 minutes the both sides were even but the Russians took the game scoring a beautiful game from a good cross and a nice header too.

I thought coming back from the second half the Saudians would have done better but they lack precision and confidence. And I was more impressed by cheryshev, the former Madrid man who later moved to Villarreal for me was the man of the match his first goal was brilliant and the second wasn’t far from the first.

Run down on the goals by minutes…
1st ⚽: came in the 12th minute from a great delivery from golovin to Gazinsky to put the Russians one goal ahead. It came from a corner kick. The Saudians failed to clear their lines.

2nd ⚽: came in the 43rd minute from a well worked counter attack from the Russians a very decent pass from Roman zobnin to cheryshev to double their lead and I think he kept his composure after been closing down by the Saudians great finish.

3rd ⚽: came right after the break In the 71 minute from a cross down the right hand flank from golovin to dzyuba who peels off the back of Omar hawsawi In the box to beat Al- mayoof the goal keeper nice one from the host.

4th ⚽ :came in the 90 minute by a great play from cheryshev who for me grabbed the man of the match performance, I mean that goal was a stunner he puts them four up.

The 5th ⚽:came 4 minutes later was a great free kick from golovin another player who should also be given the man of the match if it’s was to be giving to 2 players. He compounded the Saudians agony after bending a clean free kick to the left hand side of the post to beat the goal’s their day I must say.

Benita Okojie the gospel singer is sharing her journey on becoming a mum and more to Fab Mum Nigeria Magazine on their June 2018 issue.

Being a mother;  I think the early stage of course was overwhelming, I knew that my life had changed forever for good. I had to share my time with the new baby. It wasn’t easy because it was not something I was used to, it was a new experience for me and I thank God for the Joy of being a mother. It can be also be challenging and I understand why people have post partum depression because if you don’t have people there with you the feeling might be overwhelming for some people.

About Labour; My mum and my sister were there with me during labour. My husband was also there but had to go get some items. I don’t even want to talk about labour.I was just really glad when the baby came out because I was there for 17 hours. I looked at my baby and I was like that huge guy came out of me but I thank God for counting us worthy of such a great blessing and having our families supporting us with prayers meant a lot. There were times the reality of being a new mother set in and I would go quiet. My mum would say baby blues and smile. I’m grateful for an amazing family system. Every one was helpful one way or the other. Thank God, baby A and I have grown since then.

Fighting postpartum depression; I didn’t have, that’s why it’s important to have people around you. There were moments where I had people around me and I’ll go quiet for a while and when they asked what was wrong with me I’d tell them nothing. Then I didn’t really feel like talking because I felt when they are done gisting I’ll go back inside and face my own joy and at the same time the challenges that come with it. But because I had people around me those quiet moments didn’t last.

Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike has called out names of some political thugs who are planning to ruin the local government elections. Gov Wike said this and all in a state broadcast today, see below;

“My dear people of Rivers State

Recall that the last Local Government election was hurriedly conducted in the dying days of the previous government, precisely on the 23rd of May 2015, one week before the end of their term in office.

2. Apart from the timing, the ill-fated elections was conducted in flagrant disobedience of a valid and subsisting restraining order from the Port Harcourt Division of the Federal High Court. Consequently, on the 22nd of July 2015, the Federal High Court found the election as illegal, sacked the purportedly elected officials and dissolved the Councils for being products of unlawful electoral process.

3. Since then, it has been impossible to conduct a fresh Local Government election in the State because of the ongoing legal challenge mounted by the sacked chairmen and their political party over the validity of the cancellation of the said election by the lower court.

4. However, after three years of legal vacillation it is now clear that the subject matter or fundamental interest of the claimants in that case has practically been wasted by effluxion of time and whatever remedies derivable by the parties, if any, can only be nominal.

5. While the legal challenge continues, the people of Rivers State are denied their rights to freely elect officers to run the Councils democratically. However, as things stand now, we have no other choice but to conduct the local government election and allow democracy to settle and thrive once again at the grassroots and drive the development of our communities.

6. It was on this strength that I directed the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RVSIEC), to initiate the process of conducting the Local Government election in the 2nd quarter of 2018 so that the Councils can properly be constituted to discharge their constitutional responsibilities to the people.

7. In compliance with this directive, RVSIEC has since started the process and fixed the local government election in the State for next Saturday the 16th of June 2018.

8. I can confirm to you that the election will take place as scheduled in all the 4442 units, 319 wards and 23 local government areas of the State as there is no legal obstacle significant enough to warrant otherwise.

9. Let me therefore appeal to all registered voters to turn out in their numbers to vote for the candidates of their choice. This is a civic responsibility you must exercise in order to rekindle the touch of democracy, good governance and accountability in the local government system.

10. I am very pleased with the information that 67 out of the 68 registered political parties have fielded candidates for the elections and are therefore participating.

11. I am equally pleased with the assurances from RVSIEC that it is ready to conduct free, fair and credible elections come Saturday June 16, 2018. For us, this is an irreducible minimum and we demand nothing less as Government will hold the Commission strictly accountable for any acts or omissions that compromise the integrity of both the process and the elections.

12. While we are ready to support the security agencies to secure the State and ensure that the elections are peaceful, we are minded to call on the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their agents to refrain from their plan to cause mayhem and disrupt the elections in the following Local Government areas:
• Abua/Odual
• Akuku Toru
• Asari Toru
• Degema
• Emohua
• Ikwerre
• Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni
• Opobo, and
• Tai

13. The arrowheads of this satanic plot, the State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Mr. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, the former Commissioner of Agriculture, Mr. Emmanuel Chinda and the current Nigeria’s Ambassador to Netherlands, Ambassador Oji N. Ngofa are recruiting and arming political thugs with guns to be deployed on the eve of the election to create an atmosphere of insecurity create in these and other local government areas and scare voters to shun the polling stations.

14. Mr. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree is a double murder suspect who has refused to submit himself to trial. Yet, this fugitive to justice recently emerged as a factional State chairman of his party against a court order and is now emboldened by the protection he is getting from the Police and the Federal Government to engage in subversive activities against the interest and people of Rivers State.

15. In the light of the these dangerous threats from Ojukaye and co-travellers therefore, I wish to call on the security agencies, especially the Nigerian Police to live up to their primary responsibility of providing adequate security for the election and deal decisively with those who may attempt to disturb the peace, order and security of the State before, during and after the election.

16. Thankfully, I have received concrete assurances from the heads of all the security agencies that they have put adequate measures to secure the peace and ensure orderly conduct of the election and we shall hold them personally and professionally accountable should the contrary be experienced in the State.

17. Community leaders and members of the public should be on the watch out and report suspicious characters and movements in their localities and neighbourhoods to the law enforcement agencies for immediate action.

18. Also, the security agencies have definite instructions to strictly enforce the restrictions on human and vehicular movement on Election Day and arrest any person or group of persons that violate this order. All those who have no official business with conducting the election should therefore stay away from the polling units after casting their votes or risk arrest and prosecution.

19. Finally, I urge leaders of political parties and their candidates to advise their supporters and agents to peacefully conduct themselves during and after the election.

20. Thank you and may God bless Rivers State”

RE: False Reporting of Court Proceedings Concerning GTBank

Lagos Nigeria – June 11, 2018

The attention of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (“the Bank”) has been drawn to false, mischievous and malicious statements circulating in the news and social media in respect of a purported directive by the Supreme Court of Nigeria to the Bank to make payments to one of its debtor Customers.

We thank you for your continued support and patronage.
