Singer Jaywon has condemned the news about SARS disrupting his birthday and pointed out on the media always sharing negative post more than positive post.
See his post below;
As part of my yearly birthday celebration in appreciation of God’s kindness in my life and career.
I visited two motherless babies home ‘ Modupe Cole and The Heart of Gold’ homes putting smiles on the faces of the kids there and yet the MEDIA never celebrated that nor publish it on their respective platforms.
In continuation of my celebration with friends and families I had an house party in lekki.
Few hours in the celebration my attention was called to the activities of the members of SARS operatives on my street with one of my friend that came to celebrate with me.
SARS never knew who was having a celebration because they never came in and am baffled that negative news trend so well than the good work we do.
The Nigerian media are always quick to spread negative news rather promote good works. This needs to stop!!!!! SARS never disrupted my house party asa matter of fact the party had ended before the whole thing happened.
Writer Chimamanda Adiche discussed about her book “Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions.” and about Feminism in an interview with Trevor Noah.
Speaking on reason people see the word “feminist” as a negative thing she said;
“I think that feminism has long been associated with the most extreme versions of it,” she answered, continuing that people assume a feminist is a woman who hates men.
Discussing her book, she shared that it first was a letter to a friend who had just birthed a baby and asked how she could raise that child feminist.
Since birthing her own child, she continued, she has learned that it’s much more difficult to practice it than to teach how to practice it.
Asked why this was so, she answered that it’s more about the reality of things. She gave an example of telling a female child she doesn’t have to play with dolls, but the female section of the toy store is filled with dolls.
She also discussed how feminism and femininity aren’t two mutually exclusive things. A woman can be a feminist and be feminine, she said.
She asked that women think of their individual self, what they like, and is that thing causing them harm?
On chivalry, Chimamanda said she feels it’s an idea rooted in the idea that women are somehow weak and need protecting.
Another thing she discussed was the Hillary Clinton Twitter bio topic. She said she thinks some people are unable to relate to powerful women until those women domesticize themselves with “wife,” “mother.”
