There are a lot of Nigerian women that have been of great inspiration to other women in the society, country and all over the world. Its women’s month and to mark the International Women’s day we selected some few Nigerian women that have inspired and keep inspiring young girls and ladies.

Agbani Darego

Agbani Darego is a Nigerian model and beauty pageant titleholder. The beauty queen was born on December 22, 1982, in Abonnema, Rivers State, Nigeria. In 2001, she made history by becoming the first Black African to win the Miss World title, which was held in Sun City, South Africa.

After winning the Miss World title, Agbani Darego became a highly sought-after model, working with several top fashion brands and designers. She has walked the runway for many high-profile fashion shows, including those of Chanel, Marc Jacobs, and Christian Dior.

In addition to her successful modeling career, Agbani Darego is also an entrepreneur. She launched her denim line, AD by Agbani Darego, in 2010, and her online store, www.agbanidarego.com, in 2013. She has also been involved in philanthropic work, including supporting causes such as education, women’s empowerment, and children’s welfare.

Agbani Darego has received several awards and recognitions for her achievements, including being named one of the “50 Most Influential Nigerians” by BusinessDay in 2019. She continues to inspire many people, especially young girls and women, to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals.
